Whether you're just starting out, or you just need a refresher course, we can help you get into (or back into) the game! It's impossible to find a good-paying office job if you do not know either Microsoft Office or WordPerfect Suite of software.
WORDPERFECT USERS If you already know WordPerfect and just landed a dream job, only to find out they use Microsoft. Not to worry. After a few days of using Microsoft Word, or Excel, you'll see just how much the two products are the same. There are differences, some pros and cons with both; unfortunately, there is very little that can be done about the "things you liked in WP" that are not available in Word. There are ways to make Word more like WP to help you along in the transition. We can set that up for you, to help ease you into the differences. Again, don't worry. If you knew WP well, then Word will not be a major problem. Chances are, you'll do just fine on your first day - even without any formal Microsoft Word training. Hopefully, you mentioned the fact that you were a WP person at the time of the interview... If not, it may be difficult to 'hide' the large WP stamped into your forehead. Come clean with your boss - then get to work!
BOOKS & SUPPLIES We will supply the book and any additional materials necessary for any tutorial we provide; you'll need to provide a laptop or desktop for yourself to learn on; however, if you do not own a home computer or laptop, we can arrange to have one for the training lesson, so we can still 'have fun' learning at home.
TUTORIAL PRICES - (HOW WE DETERMINE YOUR LEVEL OF KNOWLEDGE) The tutorial prices are based on your level of software knowledge. We determine your level of knowledge by a simple ten question exam (don't worry) given before the tutorial begins. The questionnaire is based on a how well you know the software, the tips and tricks of the software and shortcuts only a proficient user would know. There is no time limit and no such thing as a failing grade. The four levels of knowledge are: Beginner, Novice, Intermediate and Advanced. We know you want to learn the subject, if you already knew everything about the topic, why would you ask for tutoring? So we understand. It's funny when you ask someone how well they know Word let's say, and they'll answer, "oh yes, I'm very good at Word, and can type 80 WPM"; so we ask to see how they do a mail merge from Access or Excel. The silence can be deafening! So to make a long subject short(er), we will decide on your level of subject knowledge to determine tutorial price. You will know before the tutorial starts; however, you know deep inside what your level of expertise is, so expect that level to be demonstrated at the time of the questionnaire.
ABOUT THE SESSION Each tutorial session lasts 3 hours and will cover 2 to 3 chapters in the book. That leaves an hour for each chapter in the book, which is your to keep after your first payment. Using this method you can see why Advanced users will pay less than Beginners or Novices. Most likely we would not spend an hour on chapter one, if the user was proficient. So on the first tutorial with an advanced user, we may cover 5 to 6 chapters until we catch-up to the point where the Advanced user needs assistance.
TUTORIAL or HOWTO:'s If an advanced user needs help with only one or two items - We suggest using our HOWTO: Tutorials rather than the full tutorial lesson. The HOWTO:'s cover 15 minute tutorials at an inexpensive price. The 15-minute tutorials are meant to help the user through a difficult process, such as a mil-merge, different first page footer, or embedding sound into a web page. Each could be done by NCS within 5 minutes; but the point is to show you HOW to complete the task yourselves.
